Question/Answers

And Comment Section

  1. When we say the building project will cost $8million, did that include the buying of the land and factor in inflation?

(A). Jim- the $8 million did include the purchasing of the land. We have not updated the projections of the costs since we started the capital campaign.  This is something we will need to do.

  1. When we were deciding between the sites (current vs. Greenfield) did we look at just demolishing the current site and rebuilding were we are now?  How many acres do we have at the current site (West 3rd street)?

(A) Jim- we looked at 3 different views including rebuilding at the current site.  Based on the cost involved the majority of the parishioners decided on the building of a new school on new land.  We currently have about 2 acres of land at the current site.  Our ball fields are about 13 acres.

  1. Have we had an appraisal of our current property? Has anyone expressed an interest in purchasing our property?

(A) Fr. Flach/Mike- for insurance purposes the land and building are appraised at $5-6 million (according to our financial balance sheet). No one has expressed an interest in our current school, but we have not put any word out about it being for sale.  We have not had an appraisal of the school and church property.

  1. How will Phase 2 of the capital campaign be conducted?

(A) Tony- no decision has been made yet on how the next campaign will be conducted.  We have learned a lot from doing the first capitol campaign that will help us with the second.

  1. With 200 new families registering with the church in the last 3 years what, has this done to school enrollment and PSR?

(A)Julia, Rodney, Michelle- enrollment at SPPS is about the same. We are looking at new ways to recruit students. At SPPS, the children receive both a Catholic education and a good curriculum that is faith based.  Currently there are 326 students in the school, when we did the study there were 355. Pre school enrollment is up this year.  PSR enrollment is up by 8%. Currently 266 students in PSR. Not all 200 families who have registered with the parish have children, some are seniors, and some are new families starting out.

  1. As a private school, are we eligible for federal or state grants for help with the new school?

(A)Tony, Mike- not sure, it is something we can look into.

  1. How can we get involved with the rest of the project?

(A)  Fr. Flach- can call the parish office or contact Bonnie Garner

  1. Where the new families who have joined our parish been appraised of the capital campaign?

(A) Tony- they were invited to a meeting to learn about the project.  We had about 10% of the people come to the meetings.

  1. Comment-Communication has to be better.  People present were asked what was the best way to communicate things to the parishioners.

(A) Fr. Flach/Tony- Letters-50%, Email 25%   We plan to have congregational meeting at least 2 times per year.  When the next phase starts, we will have meetings to let everyone know what we are doing.

  1. Comment-We need to know what the different ministries are doing in the parish.  This meeting was helpful.

(A) Fr. Flach- we are looking at maybe doing a stewardship fair this next year.  The different ministries would be at tables, people could come and talk with someone about what the goals of the ministry are, and people can sign up at that time.
